The Dixon Street Flats were built as part of the first Labour Government’s state housing program and completed in 1944. They are designed by Gordon Wilson, who was chief architect at the Department of Housing Construction for New Zealand. The Austrian-born architect Ernst Plischke worked with him to create it.
